3 Days Nyungwe Hiking Safari: Nyungwe Forest National Park is among the four national parks situated in Rwanda, and it has a number of attractions and activities that attract visitors to go and visit it. This park is a habitat for various Rwandan wildlife safari species, and it is located in the south-western part of Rwanda. This park has a number of hiking trails, which include Bigugu Trail, Ngabwe Trail, Congo Nile Divide Trail, Rukuzi Trail, Muzimu Trail, Isumo Waterfall Trail, and many more.

On the 3-day Nyungwe hiking safari, you will have a tour around Kigali airport to the Kandt House Museum and Kigali Genocide Memorial, and then you will be taken to Nyungwe Forest National Park. You will then conduct a hike to Rukuzi Trail and a canopy walk on day 2. You will conclude the Rwanda hiking safari with a waterfall hike, and you will be transferred to Kigali airport with a stopover at Kimironko market.

Day 1 : Pick up from Kigali airport and transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

On the 3 days of Nyungwe hiking the safari, a Rwanda hiking safari guide will meet you at the airport when you arrive, and you will interact and get to know each other. You will be briefed, and then you will head for a city tour in Kigali, and you will begin with a visit to the Kandt House Museum, where you will tour around with the guide, who will be responsible for giving you all the details about this museum. You will also get to know the history, culture, and traditions of Rwanda while at the Kandt House Museum.

You will then head to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where you will also receive the details about the Rwandan genocide of 1994. You will see the remains of the Rwandans that are kept here, and these remains were kept at this place in remembrance of those people that engaged in the genocide. The Kigali Genocide Memorial was put in place in respect of the Rwandans that lost their lives during the 1994 Rwandan genocide, and therefore most of the visitors who visit this place come with the aim of getting to know more about what transpired in the 1994 Rwandan genocide. You will then get transferred for lunch at a hotel in Kigali.

After lunch, you will set off to Nyungwe National Park, and once you reach there, you will decide on the lodge that you will sleep in. Nyungwe National Park has a wide range of accommodations, and a visitor is free to make any lodge choice according to their budget. There are luxury accommodations, midrange accommodations, and budget accommodations. After settling in the hotel you will have chosen, you will refresh yourself, and you will head to the dinner area and have dinner. After having your dinner meal, you will  retire to bed.

Day 2 : Hike to Rukuzi trail and a canopy walk

On the 2nd day of the 3-day Nyungwe hiking safari, you will wake up early in the morning and have breakfast at the lodge, and you will be driven by the guide to the park headquarters and get the guidelines from the park guides. You will be told what is required before conducting the hike to the Rukuzi Trail. This trail is among the longest trails in Nyungwe Forest National Park, and it is about 9km. The hike to Rukuzi Trail will take you approximately 5 hours to complete, and during this hike, you will see various attractions like the wildlife in this park and tea plantations. You will spot primates like the chimpanzees and many more. A Rwanda hiking safari guide will then transfer you to the lodge, and you have lunch and relax.

After relaxing, you will head to the park headquarters with the guide, who will drive you there. You will be briefed, and then you will set off for a canopy walk. A canopy walk is one of the activities offered at Nyungwe National Park, and it takes about 2 hours while carrying it out. This canopy walk is conducted on the suspended bridge, and it rewards visitors with a number of sights, like the birds, animals, tree species, and the Nyungwe Forest. The canopy walk is conducted on the suspended bridge that is about 160m long and 70m high. After the canopy walk, a guide will transfer you to the lodge, and it is where you will have your dinner before you retire to bed.

Day 3 : Waterfalls hike and transfer to Kigali airport

Early in the morning at Nyungwe Forest National Park, you will have breakfast at the lodge, and a Rwanda safari guide will meet you at the lodge and transfer you to the park headquarters, and you will be briefed. After the briefing, you will head for a waterfall trail at the Isumo Waterfall Trail that is about 10.6 kilometers. It will take you about 4 to 5 hours while trekking on this trail and while you are trekking, you will come across a number of attractions and some of these attractions include various wildlife species, rainforests, tea farms and many more. A guide will transfer you back to the park headquarters, and you will return to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch, you will check out of the lodge, and you will embark on the journey back to the airport. If there is time, you will pass via Kimironko market, and you will get souvenirs.
