This is a Rwanda’s 7 days gorillas and chimps tour to Volcanoes National Park and Nyungwe National Park. This Rwanda safari has a lot of activities to offer to you, like gorilla trekking, chimpanzee trekking, golden monkey trekking, hiking to Dian Fossey Tomb, visiting Iby’iwacu cultural village, canopy walk and having a city tour in Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda, to places like the Kigali genocide memorial, the Rwanda art museum and Kimironko market.

Day 1: Pick up from Kigali airport and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Detailed itinerary for the 7 days gorillas and chimps
Day 1: Pick up from Kigali airport and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On the 1st day of the safari, a guide will pick you up from Kigali airport and take you for a city tour in Kigali to the Kigali genocide memorial, Kimironko market and Rwanda art museum with an enroute lunch. You will then head to Volcanoes National Park, arriving in the evening and you will have dinner after checking into a lodge. You will then retire to bed

Day 2: Gorilla trekking
On the 2nd day of the safari, you will have breakfast and also get your packed lunch at the lodge. You will set off to the park headquarters with a guide and then after briefing, you will go for gorilla trekking that will take approximately 30 minutes to 7 hours while searching for the gorillas. You will spend one hour with the gorillas after finding them and then you will get back to the lodge after getting pictures and some videos of the gorillas. At the lodge, you relax, have dinner and retire to bed

Day 3: Golden monkey trekking permit and visit to Iby’iwacu cultural village
On the 3rd day of the safari, after having an early morning breakfast, you will leave the lodge and go to the park headquarters and be briefed about golden monkey trekking. You will then set off with a guide who will help you find the golden monkeys. You will spend only one hour with the golden monkeys after finding them. After having some time with the golden monkeys, you will return to the lodge for lunch after capturing moments in camera with the golden monkeys.
After lunch, you will be driven to Iby’iwacu cultural village for a tour. You will get cultural experiences while at iby’iwacu cultural village. You will get information about the Rwandese culture and traditions from the locals that you will find there. They will perform for you their cultural dances and also tour with you around their community initiatives. You will then head back to the lodge in volcanoes national park. You will be given dinner and then you will retire to bed.

Day 4: Hike to Dian Fossey Tomb
On the 4th day of the safari, you will have breakfast and then go for a briefing at the park headquarters. You will acquire hiking sticks and then set off for a hike to Dian Fossey Tomb with an armed ranger guide. You will come across several wildlife species while on the hike to Dian Fossey Tomb. You will be able to see the Tomb of Dian Fossey and also learn about the gorillas. You will then return to the lodge fir lunch and you will relax. You will be given dinner in the evening and then you retire to bed.

Day 5: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park for a canopy walk
On the 5th day of the safari, you will have breakfast and then check out of the lodge. After checking out, you will then head to Nyungwe National Park. You will check into a lodge in Nyungwe when you arrive and have lunch.
In the afternoon, you will go for a canopy walk at the suspended bridge, giving you views of the surroundings of the park and all the attractions, including bird species and animal species. You will then return to the lodge after spending 2 hours conducting the canopy walk. You will have dinner at the lodge in the evening and then retire to bed

Day 6: Chimpanzee trekking
On the 6th day of the safari, you will leave the lodge after breakfast and you will head to the park headquarters for briefing. After briefing, you will go for chimpanzee trekking with an armed guide and you will find the chimpanzees in their natural habitat. It will take you 30 minutes to 4 hours to find them and you will spend 1 hour with them and then you will return to the lodge for lunch. You will relax at the lodge till dinner time. After dinner, you will retire to bed.

Day 7: Depart to Kigali airport
On the 7th day of the safari, you will have breakfast and then check out of the lodge. You will then be transferred from Nyungwe National Park to Kigali airport to catch up with your flight.
