Detailed itinerary of 12 days Uganda Gorilla tracking
Day 1: Arrival at the airport
On your 1st day of 12 days of Uganda gorilla tracking, you will meet our representative at the airport, who will brief you about the 12 days in Uganda while tracking. If time allows, you may opt to visit the Uganda Wildlife Center in Uganda and have lunch at the Botanical Gardens. After that, he will drop you at your hotel in Kampala for dinner, relaxation, and overnight.
Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park.
On your 2nd day of 12 days of Uganda gorilla tracking, you will wake up early for breakfast, check out of your hotel, and then start your journey to Murchison Falls National Park. On your journey, you will have a stopover at Luwero market to buy some eats along your way, then proceed to Masindi town for rhino tracking, which takes about 1-2 hours. After rhino tracking, you will be en route to Masindi town for lunch. Relax, then proceed to the park. You will be arriving at the park entrance in the afternoon; drive straight to hike to the top of the falls, which gives visitors an unforgettable Uganda wildlife safari experience. After hiking, you will then proceed to the park, check in at the lodge, have dinner, and stay overnight.
Day 3: game drive & Boat cruise
On your 3rd day, you will wake up for breakfast and meet your Uganda safari driver, who will take you for a game drive. This normally takes about 2-3 hours. During the game drive, you will be able to see different wildlife like elephants, leopards, lions, giraffes, Jackson’s hartebeests, elands, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, warthogs, topis, waterbucks, bushbucks, and others. Afterward, you will be taken back to the lodge for lunch as you wait for the next activity.
Boat cruise
During the boat cruise, you will be able to spot very aquatic animals like hippos and crocodiles and other animals like elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, Uganda kobs, Jackson’s heartbeat bushbucks, waterbucks, topis, and some bird species like shoebills, African fish eagles, goliaths, great egrets, African jacanas, and pied kingfishers. After the boat cruise, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park
On your 4th day, you will wake up, have breakfast, check out of the lodge, and then meet your driver to transfer you to Kibale National Park, which is well known for its different primates. On your way to Kibale National Park, you will be able to view the beautiful nature in the surroundings and tree plantations. As soon as you arrive in Kibale National Park, you will have relaxation in Bigodi and then later drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking in Bigodi
On your 5th day, you will wake up for breakfast, meet your driver, and then proceed to chimpanzee tracking, visiting the headquarters. After that, you will be divided into 5 groups of people, and each group will be given a senior tour guide to help the visitors get to the chimps since they normally take about 2-3 hours tracking. After spotting them, you will be given 1 more extra hour to be with them, take a moment of pictures, and study how they feed. During this tracking, other primates can be spotted, like the red-tailed monkey and the black-and-white colobus, among others. After you are dropped back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight. This unforgettable experience is a key highlight of Uganda wildlife safaris.
Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
On your 6th day of 12 days of Uganda gorilla tracking, you wake up for breakfast, meet your guide, and then start your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This takes about a 2-3 hour drive. Continue to Fort Portal town for lunch, and visit the crater lakes with a view of the mountain ranges. You will be arriving at the gate in the late evening, then check in at the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Game drive & Boat cruise
Game Drive
In the early morning, you will have a breakfast meeting with your driver before going out for a game drive in the Kasenyi Plains, where you will see animals such as elephants, buffalo, Uganda kobs, elands, giraffes, hyenas, warthogs, and many others that usually graze in the plains. This game drive is among the best Uganda wildlife safaris. After the drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch in preparation for the afternoon boat cruise.
Boat cruise
On the same day of your 7 day, you will be driven to the lake shores for a boat cruise. During the boat cruise, you will be able to spot the different animals like elephants, buffaloes, elands, hippos, and crocodiles, and some bird species can also be spotted, which include the shoebill, African fish eagle, African jacana, Goliath heron, saddle-billed stork, and great white pelican, among others. Then, after your boat cruise, you will be brought back for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi
On your 8th day, you will be transferred to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, located in the Kigezi region, Kisoro district, and this journey takes about 7-8 hours by drive. On your journey, you will be viewing the beautiful scenery of the region, hilled and terraced landscapes. You will have a stopover in Kabale town for lunch and relaxation and then continue to Kisoro in the late evening, enjoying the great corners of Kanaba, and arrive at the main gate in the evening, check in to the lodge, have dinner, and stay overnight.
Day 9: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
On your 9th day, you will welcome your guide at breakfast, followed by him leading you to the park headquarters for orientation. It is there that you will be directed to carry bottled water and a packed lunch as you begin your trekking adventure. Through trekking, you will see various primates, but the highlight will be the unforgettable experience of gorilla viewing—one of Uganda wildlife safaris’ greatest experiences. Tracking takes about 2-3 hours because the primates normally hide in the deep forest to search for water and food. After spotting them, you will be given 1 hour extra to take pictures and then check out of the forest and drive back to the park for relaxation and dinner, and an overnight stay.
Day 10: Transfer to Kampala
On your 10th day, you will wake up to your breakfast, check out of the park, and then fly back to Kampala or Entebbe International Airport.
