Detailed itinerary of 7 days of Uganda primates.
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe airport
You will arrive at the Entebbe International Airport in the late evening, where you will meet our representative to welcome you and give a small introduction about the 7-day Uganda primates tour, and then later he will drive you to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Transfer to Kibale National Park
On your 2nd day of 7 days of Uganda primates, you will wake up early, have breakfast, and then meet your Uganda wildlife safari guide to start your journey to southwestern Uganda in Kibale National Park. While on your way, you will be able to see the Rwenzori mountain ranges and beautiful scenic features along the way, and you will arrive in Fort Portal in the late afternoon, have lunch, and tour around the crater lakes in Fort Portal. Then you can be en route back to Kibaale, arriving in the late evening, have dinner, and stay overnight.
Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking
On your 3rd day of 7 days of Uganda primates, you will wake up, have breakfast, and meet the guide who will take you for briefing at the headquarters. You will be briefed about the rules, regulations, and expectations about the chimpanzee tracking. This process takes about 2-4 hours depending on the location of the primates. After the briefing, you will be divided into two small groups of people, and you will give the senior Uganda tour guide your chimpanzee tracking experience. While on your tracking process, you will encounter other primates like monkeys that also inhabit the forest. After tracking, you will be taken back to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.
Nature walk
On the same day, after your lunch, you will meet your Uganda tour guide again to have a walk in the forest. During your nature walk in Bigodi Swamp, you will see different wildlife and bird species. This wildlife includes colobus monkeys, golden monkeys, and red-tailed monkeys, and bird species include parrots, African kingfishers, great turacos, red-headed bluebills, papyrus gonoleks, double-toothed barbets, and swamp flycatchers, among others. After your nature walks, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
On your 4th day of 7 days of Uganda primates, you will wake up to your breakfast, check out of the lodge, and then set off to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This normally takes about 2-3 hours. You will have a stopover at the equator, take some pictures, and then proceed to the park, arriving in the late afternoon. As soon as you arrive at the park, you will be taken to the boat for a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel to see different mammals like hippos, crocodiles, and other mammals like buffaloes, giraffes, elephants, elands, topis, and antelopes among others. While on your boat cruise, you’re able to see the water birds, which include the African jacana, purple heron, hamerkop, African pygmy goose, and black crake, among other birds. After your activity, you will be taken back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Game drive and Boat cruise
On your 5th day of 7 days of Uganda primates, you will wake up early, have breakfast, and then meet your guide to take you through the game drive in Kasenyi Plains. During the game drive, you will spot different animals like buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, topis, elands, waterbucks, and others. After your boat cruise, you will be driven back to the lodge for lunch and relaxation as you wait for your next afternoon activity.
Boat cruise
In the afternoon, you will meet our guide again to take you through the boat cruise experience. This boat cruise normally happens on the Kazinga Channel, where different primates are spotted. These include hippos, crocodiles, and other mammals like giraffes, elephants, topis, elands, and the diverse bird species, which include African jacanas, purple herons, hamerkops, African pygmy geese, and black crakes. After your boat cruise, you will be taken back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park
On your 6th day of 7 days of Uganda primates, you will wake up to your breakfast, meet your Uganda tour driver/guide, and set off to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which normally takes about 7-8 hours to drive. While on your way, you will have a stopover in Mbarara town for lunch and then proceed to Kabale town, where you will have time to relax and enjoy Kabale town, and then proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the late evening, check in at the park lodge, have dinner, and stay overnight.
Day 7: Gorilla trekking and return to Entebbe.
On your 7th day of 7 days of Uganda primates, you will wake up early in the morning, have breakfast, and then meet your Uganda Wildlife safari guide for a briefing about gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where they will be giving directives about trekking, rules, regulations, and expectations about the trekking. This trekking takes about 4-5 hours to spot the primates; you will be able to spot them, though they normally move to different places in search of water and food. After spotting them, you will drive out of the park, and then you will set off back to Kampala. The driver will either drop you at the hotel in Kampala or at Entebbe International Airport for your next flight.
