This is an 8 days birding and primates Safari with visits to several destinations for bird watching and primate viewing for those who are enthusiastic about Uganda safaris. You will visit the Mabamba wetland for birdwatching and the Bigodi wetland. You will engage in Chimpanzee trekking at Kibale National Park and a morning game drive, and a boat cruise at Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will conduct a gorilla trek and Batwa cultural experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and golden monkey trekking in Mgahinga National Park.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pick up from Entebbe airport and transfer to Mabamba wetland for Bird watching

On day 1, the guide will pick you up from Entebbe airport and transfer you to Mabamba wetland, where you will engage in bird watching. At Mabamba wetland, you will be able to see the shoebill stork and other bird species like the papyrus gonolek, white-winged warbler, swamp flycatcher, blue swallow, yellow-backed weaver and many more.

The guide will drive you to a hotel after birdwatching, and you will have lunch. After lunch, you will relax at the hotel and then later sleep after dinner.

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale National Park and a Bigodi swamp walk

On day 2, you will have breakfast at the hotel and then the guide will transfer you to Kibale National Park with an enroute lunch. Once you arrive, you will check into a lodge, and then you will go for a Bigodi swamp walk. You will see several bird species, primates and many more while at the Bigodi swamp. You will then head to the lodge, refresh, have dinner and sleep.

Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early morning breakfast on day 3, you will go for chimpanzee trekking after a briefing. You will search for the chimpanzees for about 30 minutes to 4 hours, and after finding them, you will spend an hour with them in their natural habitat. You will observe them, take pictures and then return to the lodge for lunch.

You will check out the lodge, and then the guide will transfer you to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will get a lodge at Queen Elizabeth National Park, relax, have dinner and sleep.

Day 4: Morning game drive and a boat cruise

At Queen Elizabeth National Park, you will have breakfast where you slept at the lodge and then go for a briefing. You will go for a morning game drive after the briefing, and you will see animals like the leopards, elephants, bushbucks, warthogs, bush pigs, and buffaloes, among others. You will then return to the lodge for lunch.

You will conduct a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel at 2 pm, and you will also see animals like the hippos and crocodiles. You will get more clarity about the sightings along this channel from the guide, and this will take approximately 2 to 3 hours while on a boat ride. You will head to the lodge after the boat cruise, take a bath, have dinner and rest.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and a Batwa cultural experience

You will have breakfast and then check out of the lodge. The guide will transfer you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and you will have lunch at the lodge where you will check in when you arrive.

You will go to the Batwa community for a Batwa cultural experience. You will learn about the Batwa people by interacting with them and receiving information from them. You will visit their community projects, and then you will head to the park headquarters after the cultural experience. You will have dinner and retire to bed.

Day 6: Gorilla trekking and transfer to Mgahinga National Park

After breakfast at the lodge, you will have a guide to go with you for gorilla trekking after a briefing. You will have to go with a packed lunch, and you will spend 1 to 7 hours searching for the gorillas. You will then have an hour with them as you learn how they behave, feed and play. You will then go back to the lodge and check out.

The guide will transfer you to Mgahinga National Park and check you into a lodge. You will have dinner and go to bed.

Day 7: Golden monkey trekking

Breakfast at the lodge, and then you will set off to the park headquarters for a briefing. You will have a golden monkey trek that may take about 4 hours as you search for the golden monkeys. You will have an hour with the playful golden monkeys, and then you will return to the lodge. You will have a lunch break, and then the rest of the time will be for relaxation. You will have dinner and then retire to bed.

Day 8: Depart for Entebbe airport

On your final day of the safari, after your early morning breakfast at the lodge, you will check out and start your return trip to Entebbe International Airport. You will enjoy a scenic drive along Uganda’s beautiful countryside, which features rolling hills, local villages and lush landscapes.

You will have an enroute lunch at a selected hotel/restaurant to provide time to refresh and review what an incredible safari you have just had. You will be transferred by your guide to the airport for a timely arrival and check-in. The end of the trip will come to a close with the completion of the remarkable adventure in Uganda.
