This is a 6 days Virunga, Volcanoes and Akagera National Park Safari. This safari grants you the opportunity to visit Virunga national park in Congo where you will conduct a gorilla trek, Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda where you will conduct another gorilla trek, hike to Dian Fossey Tomb and hike to Mount Bisoke. You will conclude with a visit to Akagera National Park where you will conduct a game drive and a boat cruise.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Virunga national park
On day 1 of the safari, a guide will pick you from the airport in Kigali and you get to greet and you will be briefed. You will be transferred to Virunga national park in Congo and you will pass through Goma border. You will have a stopover for lunch and you will proceed with your journey to Virunga national park where you will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 2 : Mountain gorilla trekking and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On day 2, you will have an early morning breakfast and you will head to the park offices for briefing before you head for the gorilla trek. You will get the guidelines from the park wardens before you head to the gorilla trek. You will embark on this activity with a ranger guide and you will have a glimpse at numerous attractions as you search fir the gorillas. It will take you about 1 to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorillas. You will stay with the gorillas for one hour and you will make your observations in that time and you also take photos of these amazing primates. You will then head back with the guide to the lodge and have lunch. After the lunch meal, you will head to Volcanoes National park as your next destination. Day 3 : Gorilla trekking and hike to Dian Fossey Tomb
On day 3, you will have an early morning breakfast and you will be briefed at the park headquarters about a gorilla trek. You will set off with the guide who will direct you to the trails. You will search for the gorillas for some time and this may take you about 5 hours depending on their location in the park. You will then have an hour with the gorillas once you spot them. You are free to take photos of the gorillas as you observe them following the guidelines given to you by the guides. You will have moments with the guide and you get the details about the gorillas and you will then be transferred to the lodge and you have your lunch meal.
After lunch, you will have a hike to Dian Fossey Tomb but you will start with a briefing session at the park headquarters. In the briefing session, you will be briefed about how you are to carry out the hike and you will then head to the trails with the guide that lead you to the tomb of Dian Fossey. You will then see the tomb of the American primatologist Dian Fossey wgen you get there and you will be told about all the achievements you made through out her time. You will see other graves of the gorillas that were laid next to Dian Fossey including her beloved primate Digit. You will then head to the lodge for dinner and your night rest.
Day 4 : Hike to Mount Bisoke and transfer to Akagera National Park
You will have breakfast at the lodge in volcanoes national park and you will meet with the guide at the park headquarters who will brief you before you set off for a hike to Mount Bisoke. You will be allocated a guide who will escort you to the hike and you will be availed with a hiking stick. You will head to the summit of Mount bisoke and this will take you approximately 4 hours. You will see the neighboring volcanic mountains while at the summit of Mount bisoke and you will have various encounters with animals and birds. You will then descend back to the starting point and this will take you about 2 hours. When you reach the starting point, you will head to the lodge and you have lunch and after check out. You will then head to Akagera National Park. You will get to Akagera National Park and check into a lodge and refresh your self. You will then have dinner and retire to bed.

Day 5 : Game drive and a boat cruise
You will have an early morning breakfast at Akagera National Park and a guide will transfer you from the lodge and lead you to the park headquarters for briefing. You will then set off with the guide to conduct a morning game drive that will take about 5 hours. You will have a chance to spot all the big five animals that ate harbored in Akagera National Park and you will also see other animals apart from the big five. You will also have the opportunity to see the various bird species in Akagera National Park while on the game drive. You will be given all the information you need by a guide who will escort you to this activity. You will then head back to the lodge and have lunch.
After the lunch meal, you will head for briefing at the park headquarters and a guide will then lead you to a boat cruise at lake Ihema which will take approximately 1 hours as you are touring around with various encounters of wildlife and vegetation types. You will then be transferred back to lodge and you relax. You will then have dinner at head to bed and sleep.
Day 6 : Transfer to Kigali airport
You will wake up in the morning and have breakfast at the lodge. A guide will meet you there after you are done with breakfast and you check out of the lodge. You will then embark on your journey back to Kigali airport to avoid missing your flight.
