Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Depending on your location in Entebbe or Kampala, you will be welcomed by our driver guide, briefed about the safari, and later start the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda. You will have a stopover at the Equator and another stopover in Mbarara town for lunch en route.

After lunch, you will continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with beautiful views of the hills, landscape, farmlands, homesteads, and others, and upon arrival, you will connect to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi National Park

After an early breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from your lodge with your lunch box to go for a gorilla trekking briefing at the park headquarters, after which you will be allocated a habituated gorilla family to trek and an experienced park guide. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi National Park starts at around 8:00 am and takes about 2 to 6 hours, depending on where the gorillas are located, because they like to move from one location to another in search of food. Once the mountain gorillas have been found, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them, which allows you to learn more about their habits; watch them carry out their daily activities like feeding, playing, and breastfeeding; take photos; and record the breathtaking moments.

After gorilla trekking, you will return to the starting point where you will meet up with your driver guide and either drive back to the lodge for relaxation or go for an exciting Batwa cultural tour where you will be able to interact with the Batwa people in the community, learn about their history, culture, and way of living, listen to their ancient stories, and enjoy their traditional songs and dances, among others. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

You will enjoy a relaxed breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey to Kibale Forest National Park. You will have en route lunch on the way and also enjoy views of the tea plantations, crater lakes, and Rwenzori mountain peaks, among others. Upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for an evening of relaxation as you prepare for your chimpanzee trek, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and departure to Kampala/Entebbe

You will have an early breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kanyachu Visitor’s Centre for a chimpanzee trekking briefing about the rules, regulations and expectations during trekking. After the briefing, you will start trekking in the forest in search of the habituated chimpanzees, which takes about 2 to 5 hours depending on where the chimpanzees are located.

During trekking, you will be able to spot other primate species like blue monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons, and grey-cheeked mangabeys, among others. Once the chimpanzees are located, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their habitat, where you will be able to take pictures, record videos, learn about their behaviours, watch them feed, play, rest, fight, hunt, groom young ones, and more.

After the encounter with the chimpanzees, you will return to the starting point, where you will meet up with your driver guide to start the journey back to Kampala with lunch en route on the way. Upon arrival, your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight or drop you off at any place of convenience, depending on your schedule.
