This is a 4 days 2 gorilla treks in Volcanoes National Park, where you will conduct to gorilla treks with visits to 2 different gorilla families in Volcanoes National Park that you will be allocated to while on a Rwanda Safari. You will have a city tour in Kigali, where you will visit the Rwanda art museum, the Kigali genocide memorial and then on the final day of the 4 days 2 gorilla treks, you will visit Iby’iwacu cultural village and Kimironko market.

Detailed itinerary for the 4 days 2 gorilla treks
Day 1: Pick up from Kigali airport and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On the first day of the 4 days 2 gorilla treks, a guide will meet you at Kigali airport, and you will briefly go through the safari details. You will then go for a city tour in Kigali. You will start with a visit to the Rwanda Art Museum to view the artwork of the artists in Rwanda. You will have views of a variety of art pieces designed to bring out the traditions and culture of Rwanda.
After the Rwanda art museum, you will visit to Kigali genocide memorial. You will be able to see the remains of the participants of the 1994 Rwanda genocide. You will learn about the events of the 1994 Rwanda genocide, and then the guide will transfer you to a hotel in Kigali for lunch.
After having lunch at the hotel in Kigali, you will set off with the guide to Volcanoes National Park. When you arrive, you will check into a lodge and then settle in. You will be served dinner, and after you will retire to bed.

Day 2: First gorilla trek
On the second day of the 4 days 2 gorilla treks, you will be served breakfast at the lodge, and then you will go to the park headquarters for a briefing with your packed lunch. You will be told the rules and regulations to follow while on the gorilla trek, and then you will be allocated a gorilla family. After the briefing, you will also be allocated a guide to escort you. You will then head to the forest for the gorilla trek. The time you will spend searching for the gorillas will have numerous encounters with wildlife species. You will take about 30 minutes to 7 hours to find the gorillas. When you meet the gorilla family, you will be given only one hour to stay with the gorillas. You will then capture moments with them as you take note of how they behave while in their natural habitat and how they cope with human presence.
The guide will transfer you back to the park lodge after the first gorilla trek. You will relax for a while, and then you will have some time at the lodge. You will be served dinner in the evening, and after that, you will head to bed to rest.

Day 3: Second gorilla trek and hike to Dian Fossey Tomb
On the third day of the 4 days 2 gorilla treks, you will be provided with breakfast, and after having breakfast, you will have a transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing. You will be briefed about the second gorilla trek, and you will be allocated another gorilla family to meet. You will then head for the gorilla trek with an armed ranger guide. You will then have one hour with the gorillas in their natural habitat after finding them. The time that you will most likely spend while searching for the gorillas will be about 30 minutes to 7 hours. The one hour that will be provided will be used to analyse the behaviour of the gorillas, and after you will take pictures of the gorillas. The guide will take you to the lodge, and you will have lunch after the gorilla trek.
After lunch, you will be briefed, and then a guide who is armed and well-versed with the hiking trails will take you for a hike to Dian Fossey’s Tomb. You will be able to see the Tomb of the famous primatologist Dian Fossey. You will also come across a number of wildlife species while hiking. You will get to know more about the gorillas, and then you will be taken back to the lodge by the guide after the hike. You will relax and then freshen up. You will have dinner, and then you will retire to bed.

Day 4: Visit to Iby’iwacu cultural village and transfer back to Kigali airport
On the final day of the 4 days 2 gorilla treks, you will be served breakfast at the lodge in Volcanoes National Park, and you will eat it at your own pace. After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge. After checking out, you will be picked up by a driver guide from the lodge, and you will leave the park. You will then head for a visit to Iby’iwacu cultural village. You will receive a warm welcome from the locals who reside in this village. You will greet and interact with them. This will help you gather all the information you need about the traditions and culture of Rwanda from them. You will then see how they dance their Kinyarwanda dance, and then the guide will drive you to Kigali city. You will arrive at a hotel and have lunch.
After lunch, you will have visit to Kimironko market, where you will buy souvenirs from the locals that you will find there. In this market, they sell a number of commodities and some of them include beads, necklaces, bangles, fresh fruits and food, clothes and many more. After the market visit, the guide will drive you to Kigali airport, where you will have a flight back to your place of residence.
